A New Door was installed into the Parish House this week {22nd to 28th Febuary 2009} to replace a very drafty old one. Also, the window ledges in the sacristy area were recovered. Thanks to Crest Windows. Fr. Andrew |
A Letter of Thanks from Rev Jack Walker, Baptist Minister at Leigh Park thanking us for our support through Advent collections is on the notice board by the statue of St Patrick |
| Works on the
church up to 18th January 2009. All the windows in the Hall have been replaced,
so we will now have
a warmer and smarter place to meet, a new front door on the Parish House which has been
designed that disabled access can be provided will be put in soon. In due course I hope
we can continue to update the Hall especially the entrance way and toilet areas. Just as
the windows were finished we found we had a burst water pipe over the meeting room. This
was immediately fixed and much water mopped up. There is a slight lifting of the flooring in
the Hall which will be fixed when dried out..

| Lourdes Parish Christmas Party thank you to Michaela
and her family and friends who worked so
hard to raise £390.20 to send a young autistic boy, Harry, to Lourdes this Easter. It was lovely to meet Harry and his family at
the party they are so pleased that this opportunity has been afforded to their son. It was wonderful to see three other Helpers from Group
201 come and join us from Southampton; they have
been part of the Group the last 4yrs when I had been Chaplain. One of them, James
Piper is going to raise £1400 to take two of the children by doing a parachute jump in February!!

| Works on the church. Thank you to Russell Jones for painting the ceilings in the side chapel this last week and for making and installing the new oak hymn bookshelves. My thanks to the very generous parishioner who donated the money for the bookshelves. It would be great if people might now take on to welcome people into the church i.e. hand out a hymn book and newsletter and greet folk as they arrive. |
| Congratulations was sent to the Parish of Waterlooville from us all, on last weekends news, that they are all clear to build their Parish Church. Since the 1920's they have used the convent chapel and this is to be sold. The Church will be near the road on the old St Peter's School site. |

In July 2008 at St Patrick’s Church we celebrated the 40th birthday of our Parish Priest, Fr. Andrew. We had a wonderful celebration, both in the Mass and afterwards in the parish grounds when over 150 people came to join the Party. The party was not just for our own Parish family,
but reached out to many other people who had some connection with Fr.
Andrew, including his family and friends from as far away as Guernsey and
Fellow clergy from many stations of life also joined us, from near and far. Our live music was provided by past parishioners from a previous parish Fr Andrew served. A good time was had by all. A milestone the Parish felt could not go by unmarked!! |
